Car Imported into Belgium
As the car has been bought in The Netherlands at Vemu Car Classics, while I myself live in Belgium, I had to import the car into Belgium.
As this a transfer of the car between two EU countries and Vemu Car Classics had already imported the car from the U.S.A. into EU, this has been fairly simple.
For Belgian residents this can be done online. From September 2018 (I think), you do not need to go to a customs office anymore. You can request an E705 certificate via Myminfin.
Also, the processing is fairly quickly: once you have filled out the form, you have the confirmation the next day.
Be aware! While filling out the form, two documents are mandatory to deliver:
- The (scan of the) original invoice from where you have bought the car;
- The (scan of the) original Title of the car.
However, for processing the E705, you also need to deliver the Import Letter! So either, use one of the optional documents buttons (like COC) or collate the Import Letter, the Invoice and Title into one PDF document.
So, now I have received the acceptance of my car into Belgium (within one day!), I downloaded and printed the document. With this document I am ready to go the the vehicle inspection!
